BEDFORD COUNTY (WSLS 10) — Basic law enforcement graduates in Bedford County are getting a pay raise.
Sheriff Mike Brown says all deputies who graduate from the 26 week basic law enforcement academy will receive a $1,800 salary increase. This means those graduates will now earn a salary of $32,809. The salary change was made possible after the Board of Supervisors voted in favor of the increase Tuesday night.
This is the second law enforcement pay raise the Board of Supervisors has approved. Back in September, the starting salary for a deputy sheriff went from $29,416.13 to $31,009.
