Man Arrested in Connection With Malicious Wounding

On 12/15/2012 Deputies responded to 1833 Joco Lane in Moneta in reference to a subject who had been assaulted, and upon arrival deputies found a man with a severe laceration to the neck. The victim and several witnesses described that an altercation had ensued between the victim and another subject at the residence identified as Jamie Ellis and during this altercation; Ellis cut the victim’s throat. Ellis had fled the scene prior to deputies arriving. The victim was evaluated by rescue personnel and flown to Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment. Ellis was later arrested at a separate location as he attempted to force his way into a residence. Ellis was taken into custody and transported to the Blue Ridge Regional Jail where warrants for Aggravated Malicious Wounding and Interfering with Property Rights was issued. Ellis is held without bond.

Jefferson Forest High School Student Arrested For Making A Threat By An Electronic Device Against Another Student

Forest, (Bedford County) VA 

On Monday December 17, a 15 year‐old Jefferson Forest High School student was arrested for making a threat against another student, who attends a school outside of Bedford County.
The Sheriff’s Office School Resource Officer learned of the alleged threat and confronted this student, which lead to him being taken into custody.
This minor is being charged with making a threat by an electronic device which is a felony. He was transported to the Lynchburg Detention Home where he is being held.

Three Adults and Two Juveniles Arrested and Charged For Theft of Church Nativity Figures

Bedford County deputies have arrested and charged three adults and two juveniles for their involvement in the theft of nativity scene figures from the Shiloh United Methodist Church in Forest.
John Killgo, 19, 203 Homestead Drive, Forest, Scott Cooley, 19, 1076 Gables Drive, Forest, and Matthew Barringer, 19, 1054 Blue Ridge Circle, Forest, are charged with grand larceny, felony property damage, trespassing on church property after dark and two counts of contributing to a minor.

The two juveniles are charged with grand larceny, felony property damage and trespassing on church property after dark. Both juveniles were transported to and are being held in the Lynchburg Detention Home.
The arrests occurred after receiving a tip from a Crime Stoppers caller.

Deputies believe the suspects destroyed the figures. The church estimates value of the 12 figures to be between $2,000.00 and $2,500.00.

Bedford County Sheriff’s Office is Investigating the Larceny of Fuel Oil From Two Churches

The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the larceny of fuel oil from two county churches.
On Saturday December 1, 2012 Beaver Dam Baptist Church, 10665 Stewartsville Road, Vinton, Va. reported fuel oil missing from the church’s oil tank located behind the church. On Friday evening, a dark color F-150 Ford truck was seen in the area of the church.
On Friday December 7, Bethesda United Methodist Church, 1434 Wyatts Way, Huddleston, Va. reported fuel oil missing from the fuel tank.
In both incidents suspect(s) siphoned the fuel oil from the tanks.

Bedford County Sheriff’s Office is Looking for Missing Nativity Scene Figures!

The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the larceny of figures from a nativity scene from the Shiloh United Methodist Church located at 18121 Forest Road Forest, Va. The church is located at the corner of Graves Mill Road and Forest Road.
A church member advised that the items were stolen sometimes between 9:00 p.m. Sunday night and 6:00 a.m. this morning.
Below is a description of the stolen figures…………(3) wise men, (2) sheep, (1) shepherd, (1) cow, (1) camel, (1) donkey, baby Jesus, Mary and Joseph.
The figures are three to four feet tall, freshly painted and are 40 to 50 years old.

Bedford County initiated the “Reverse 911 System” back in 2006 with, what was at the time, the most sophisticated system available, to send out emergency messages via telephone, advising citizens of potential dangers.
These days, many folks are using only cell phones and have done away with land lines all together. In order to provide the best possible service to everyone in Bedford County, the Emergency Notification System, ENS, has now been upgraded so that your cell phone number can be registered for ENS, should an emergency occur that citizens need to be made aware of; Forest fires, hazardous waste spills, multiple vehicle accidents, anything that could endanger your family or home.
If you have a land line, listed or unlisted, your home phone is already in the data base. However, you need to register your cell number or VOIP, (Magic Jack, Comcast, Vonage, etc.) number with the Sheriff’s office to ensure that any emergency call going out to your area of the county, will also be sent to your cell.
Please log on to the website; www.bedfordcountysheriff.org and follow the easy instructions to register. Joey Roach was arrested 11/30/2012 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. He was transported to the Blue Ridge Reginal Jail in Bedford, where he is being held without bond.

Sheriff Brown Urges Everyone to ‘Lock It Or Lose It’

Location: Forest, VA

The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of larceny complaints in the Perrowville Road area of Forest.
Victims are reporting items missing from their unlocked vehicles that are parked in their driveways. Missing items that have been reported range from credit cards to laptop computers and are taken during the night.
Citizens throughout the county are encouraged to keep their vehicles locked whenever parked. Do not leave any items of value in vehicles.

Residents in the Perrowville Road area will be receiving a phone call from our Emergency Notification System regarding these larceny complaints.

Investigators Looking for Vinton Man in Connection with Several Charges

ARRESTED

Investigators with Bedford County Sheriff’s Office are currently looking for Joey Dwayne Roach of Vinton, Virginia, in connection with the following charges: burglary, grand larceny of firearms, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, grand larceny of timber and felony property damage.

Lynchburg Man Arrested Unlawful Filming, Videotaping or Photographing of Another

Bedford, VA- Auri Christopher Collin Jones age 28, of Lynchburg Virginia was arrested on November 14, 2012, on one felony count of, Unlawful filming, videotaping or photographing of another; in violation of §18.2-386.1 (D), Code of VA. On November 15, 2012 Jones was arrested on one misdemeanor count of Unlawful filming, videotaping or photographing of another; in violation of §18.2-386.1 (A).
Law enforcement officials are working with a local church in Bedford County and two colleges in the Lynchburg area where Jones was employed as a youth leader and adjunct Professor. Authorities were notified that Jones was a volunteer on “Finding Faith” film that was filmed in Bedford County and the surrounding area. Authorities have not found any link to criminal activity that occurred during the filming. The investigation is continuing in multiple jurisdictions
and additional charges are pending.
Jones was released on bond from the Blue Ridge Regional Jail, Lynchburg Facility.
