Subjects Arrested for Malicious Wounding and Warrants Issued for Another Subject.

On 3/7/2013 Deputies responded to 1164 East Lynchburg-Salem Turnpike for a fight in progress call. Upon arrival Deputies found a man with a laceration to the face. The subject, identified as Carson Elkins, described that an altercation had ensued between him and another subject, identified as Sherwood Blake, over Blake throwing a rock at the Elkins’s vehicle. Elkins proceeded to confront the suspect and a physical altercation ensued. Elkins claimed he was hit by a rock and a bat, as Blake claims he was stuck with a wooden ax handle. Both subjects were treated and released at Bedford Memorial Hospital. Deputies obtained warrants for both subjects who were taken into custody and transported to the Bedford Blue Ridge Jail Authority where they are being held without bond. Warrants are still outstanding for a third subject, Calvin Blake.

Sherwood Blake has been charged with one count of Malicious Wounding, one count of Throwing Missiles at a Vehicle, and one count of Property Damage.
Carson Elkins has been charged with one count of Malicious Wounding.
Warrants for Calvin Blake are outstanding.

SUSPECT CHURCH LARCENY

Montvale, VA – Follow up to the thefts of wallets containing credit cards during a wedding ceremony at the Faith Life Baptist Church, Bedford County Sheriff’s deputies have identified the suspect in the photo as Michael Wayne Kidd, age 43, 1012 Greenland Drive, Bedford, Va.
Deputies have obtained warrants for Kidd for larceny, forgery and fraud.

Bedford County Sheriff’s Office Looking to Identify Thieving Wedding Crasher

Montvale, VA – A call was received by the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office reporting a larceny of several items taken from the Faith Life Baptist Church in Montvale, during a wedding ceremony on Saturday, February 23, 2013.
The deputy responded to the church and spoke with two victims who were both members of the wedding party. They stated that during the wedding, someone stole personal items and two women’s wallets which contained several credit cards and bank cards.
Bedford County Sheriff’s office is seeking help in identifying this person who used on one of the stolen credit cards in a Lynchburg store on February 24th. The stolen cards have also been used in Bedford County, Campbell County and the City of Lynchburg.

One Suspect Arrested and Sheriff’s Office is Looking for Two More Suspects

Investigators with Bedford County Sheriff’s Office have arrested one suspect and are looking to arrest two more in connection with a series of business and residential burglaries in the Huddleston area of Bedford County. The burglaries occurred between January 24, 2013 and February 13, 2013.

Bronson A. Jarrett, age 19, 526 Dale Ave., Roanoke, Va. was arrested on February 16, 2013 and charged with six burglaries and six grand larcenies. He is being held in the Bedford Adult Detention Center.

Investigators also have warrants for the same crimes and are looking to arrest Steve L. Croy, age 25, and Tiffany M. Tolley, age 30. Both Croy and Tolley are residents of Roanoke City, but have numerous ties to Bedford County, Campbell County, Buckingham County and the City of Lynchburg.

Another Arrest in Connection To A Series of Burglaries in Bedford County

Investigators from the Bedford County Sheriff’s office have charged another person in connection with a series of five burglaries in Bedford County. These burglaries occurred between December 24, 2012 and January 4, 2013.
Tanisha Ping Linette Nelson, age 20, of 3434 Bennett Dr. NW, Apt. 6, Roanoke, Va. was arrested early Tuesday morning, February 12, and is being held on a $25,000 bond in the Bedford Adult Detention Center. Nelson was charged with five counts of grand larceny and two counts of larceny of a firearm.

Bedford County Sheriff’s Office Looking for a Suspect in Recent Burglaries

On January 25, 2013, the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office hosted a press conference regarding the results and arrests of the ongoing investigations into a string of recent burglaries in Bedford County.

The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office has in custody Augustus J. Xavier, Juan Quontell Welton, Kenneth Beaner and Durrell Brown.

Sheriff Brown Will Host a Press Conference to Report on the Investigations into a String of Recent Burglaries

On Friday morning, January 25, 2013, Sheriff Brown will host a press conference at 10:00 a.m. in the Emergency Operations Center located in the lower level of the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office.
The purpose of the press conference is to report on the results and arrests of ongoing investigations into a string of recent burglaries in Bedford County.
No further information will be released by the Sheriff’s office prior to the conference due to the arrests that still need to be made.

Bedford County Sheriff’s Office Looking for Two Suspects

On 01/17/2012 at 1:56AM Bedford County Communications received a call from a resident in the 1400 block of Centerville Road stating unknown individuals had shot into her home. A deputy responding to the area observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Belltown Road. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle and the vehicle attempted to flee. The deputy pursued the vehicle onto Kincannon Road, where the vehicle wrecked. The occupants of the vehicle fled on foot, and one suspect was taken into custody. A second subject was located by another deputy at a residence near the crash site. Two other occupants of the vehicle remain at large. They are described as black males wearing dark clothing.
The suspects in custody have been identified as Augustus J. Xavier, DOB 1/11/1995, 1101 12th Street, Roanoke VA and Juan Quontell Welton, DOB 9/24/1992, 922 Palm Ave NW, Roanoke, VA.

A possible sighting of one of the at-large suspects was received at 11:31AM in the 3600 block of East Lynchburg-Salem Turnpike. Officers responded to the area immediately and searched the area but were unable to locate any suspects matching the description given by the caller. The public is encouraged to call police immediately should any suspicious subject be observed in the area, or if anyone had contact with subject matching the description given. These subjects should be considered armed and dangerous.

This incident is still under investigation.

Bedford County Sheriff’s Office is Investigating the Larceny of Fuel Oil From Two Churches

The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the larceny of fuel oil from two county churches.
On Saturday December 1, 2012 Beaver Dam Baptist Church, 10665 Stewartsville Road, Vinton, Va. reported fuel oil missing from the church’s oil tank located behind the church. On Friday evening, a dark color F-150 Ford truck was seen in the area of the church.
On Friday December 7, Bethesda United Methodist Church, 1434 Wyatts Way, Huddleston, Va. reported fuel oil missing from the fuel tank.
In both incidents suspect(s) siphoned the fuel oil from the tanks.
