On 01/17/2012 at 1:56AM Bedford County Communications received a call from a resident in the 1400 block of Centerville Road stating unknown individuals had shot into her home. A deputy responding to the area observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Belltown Road. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle and the vehicle attempted to flee. The deputy pursued the vehicle onto Kincannon Road, where the vehicle wrecked. The occupants of the vehicle fled on foot, and one suspect was taken into custody. A second subject was located by another deputy at a residence near the crash site. Two other occupants of the vehicle remain at large. They are described as black males wearing dark clothing.
The suspects in custody have been identified as Augustus J. Xavier, DOB 1/11/1995, 1101 12th Street, Roanoke VA and Juan Quontell Welton, DOB 9/24/1992, 922 Palm Ave NW, Roanoke, VA.
A possible sighting of one of the at-large suspects was received at 11:31AM in the 3600 block of East Lynchburg-Salem Turnpike. Officers responded to the area immediately and searched the area but were unable to locate any suspects matching the description given by the caller. The public is encouraged to call police immediately should any suspicious subject be observed in the area, or if anyone had contact with subject matching the description given. These subjects should be considered armed and dangerous.
