Luncheon with major surprise for group
Thursday, August 11, 2016, at 11:30AM
Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, EOC Room
On Thursday, August 11, 2016, at 11:30AM, a luncheon in honor of Boys with a Dream will be held at the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office, in the EOC room. This luncheon was planned at the event that the group held at the Farmer’s Market on July 21st and, was intended as a somewhat ‘low key’ event to show the sheriff’s office appreciation for the support and love that was shown law enforcement at the Farmer’s Market event.
What was a low key event has turned into a somewhat ‘high key’ event with letters/official documents of encouragement/support being received from major national law enforcement associations and political leaders. One such letter had this quote; “The best way to predict your future is to create it.” Abraham Lincoln…and, this is what these young men are doing!
The highlight of the luncheon will be a surprise announcement that these young men will be hosted, all expenses paid, by the Virginia Sheriff’s Association at their annual conference the week of September 12, 2016, at the Tyson Corners Sheraton. The group will be treated to a major league baseball game (Nationals vs. Mets…come on Nationals) and will be hosted by Congressman Goodlatte for an official tour and lunch at of our nation’s Capitol.
The Governor (he’s vacationing at Smith Mountain Lake) and Secretary of Public Safety have been invited. Representatives from state and local government, national police organizations will be attending or will have a representative there.
A special award from the General Assembly will be presented to the group by Delegate Terry Austin.
I would hope that you would make a special effort to be here for this event…I suspect the look on these young people’s faces will be ‘priceless!’
REMEMBER…A SURPRISE…PLEASE NO ADVANCE PREVIEWS
