Bedford, VA – Sheriff Brown has announced that once again, the phone scammers are hitting Bedford County and the Town of Bedford, with phone calls claiming they are from the U.S. Treasury or the I.R.S. to notify you of some kind of enforcement infraction. They state “failure to comply will put you before a jury”.
This is a scam which tries to steal your credit card and social security information over the phone.
Please let your elderly friends and neighbors know about this since the scammers tend to prey upon the elderly.
If you receive such a call, just hang up.
