On October 4, 2012, Investigators from the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes
Against Children Task Force, executed a search warrant in the County of Bedford, VA, seeking
evidence related to an ongoing investigation into online solicitation of underage persons.
In July 2012, Investigators assigned to the SOVAICAC Task Force began an investigation on a
suspect reported to be in the area of Forest, VA, who was chatting online with a person whom
they had reason to believed was a minor female. Additionally at a later time the suspect began
chatting with another person he had reason to believe was a minor female.
A search warrant was obtained and subsequently executed at the residence of William Ramsey
Rogers on 117 Winesap Drives, Lynchburg VA. The residence is located within the confines of
Bedford County.
Arrest warrants were obtained and executed for the arrest of William Ramsey Rogers. Rogers
was charged with five felonies under Code of Virginia § 18.2-374.3 Use of communications
systems to facilitate certain offenses involving children. He was charged with 2 counts under sub
section (C-1), 2 counts under sub section (C-2) and 1 count under subsection (C-3).
Rogers was subsequently taken into custody without incident. Investigators may obtain
additional charges, pending the completion of the computer forensic examination on all items
seized from the residence.
Rogers is currently being held in the Bedford Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond.
The Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is one of over 60 task forces
across the US and is administered by the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office.
