PA Man Arrested in Connection with Ongoing Investigation Related to Crimes Against Children

The following subject was arrested on December 14th, 2018 in connection with an ongoing Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children (SOVA-ICAC) investigation.

Lawrence W Henry Jr, 46 years of age, of Normalville, PA was arrested by Investigators assigned to the SOVA-ICAC when he traveled to Bedford County in furtherance of the crime. Member agencies that participated in the operation were the Town of Bedford Police Department and the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office. Additional support was provided by the Bedford County Vice Unit.

Henry is being held without bond at the Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority in Bedford on the following charges:

(7) counts of 18.2-374.3 -Use of a communication device to facilitate certain offenses involving children.

Murder Investigation Yields Third Arrest; One Remains At Large

On Friday morning September 14, 2018, Robert Du’rille Goodman was arrested in Campbell County and charged with the second degree murder of Aaron Brumfield.

Homicide Investigation Leads to Additional Arrest, Others Remain At Large

Wednesday evening Bedford County Sheriff’s investigators identified suspect #1 as Tevante Deshawn Pannell, age 23, of Evington.

Thursday morning Trevor J. McIntosh, age 23, was arrested in Lynchburg and served with the Bedford County warrant for the second degree murder of Aaron Brumfield.

On Thursday, suspect #2 was identified as Robert Du’rille Goodman, age 18, of Altavista.

Arrest warrants have been obtained for both Tevante D. Pannell and Robert D. Goodman for the second degree murder of Aaron Brumfield.

Additional charges against all four of the individuals arrested in this investigation are possible as the investigation evolves.

Bedford County Sheriff’s Office investigators with the assistance of the United States Marshals Services Fugitive Team, Lynchburg Police Department, Altavista Police Department and Campbell County Sheriff’s Office continue to search for Pannell and Goodman, who remain at large.

Authorities Seeking Help in Locating One Suspect, Identifying Others Connected to Homicide Investigation

(For Immediate Release)

On Monday evening September 10, Bedford County Sheriff’s Office investigators arrested Nadia La-sha McDaniel, age 21. She is presently charged with breaking and entering, while armed with a firearm, with the intent to commit robbery. This charge stems from the homicide of Aaron Brumfield in Bedford County on Friday September 7, 2018. She is being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail in Bedford without bond.
Additional charges against McDaniel are possible as the investigation continues.

Bedford County Sheriff’s investigators have also obtained a warrant for Trevor James McIntosh, age 23, charging him with the second degree murder of Aaron Brumfield.

Investigators are asking for the public’s help in identifying suspect #1 in the attached photos wearing a white shirt and dark color pants. Suspect #2, shown in the attached photos wearing a dark color sweat shirt with writing on the front.

We are also seeking any possible information on the whereabouts of Trevor McIntosh, who remains at large.

Man Arrested in Connection with an Ongoing Investigation into the Sexual Exploitation of Children

August 2, 2018

BEDFORD, VA –

On July 30, 2018, Gordon Matthew Goff, 24, of Rocky Ford Rd, Bedford, was arrested in connection with an ongoing investigation into the sexual exploitation of children.  Investigators with the Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, from both the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office and the Town of Bedford Police Department, participated in the investigation, and execution of a search warrant at his residence.

As a result of the investigation, Goff was arrested on two counts of violating the Code of Virginia statute 18.2-374.3, Use of communications systems to facilitate certain offenses against children, and one count of violating the Code of Virginia statute 18.2-374.1, Production, publication, sale, financing, etc., of child pornography.

This investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be pending.  If anyone has any information related to this investigation, please contact the SOVA ICAC at 434-534-9521.

Man Arrested, Charged with Felony Strangulation and Domestic Assault & Battery

On Thursday night at 10:07 p.m., Bedford County 911 received a call from a female advising she had received a call from her stepmother. The caller stated that her stepmother told her that the caller’s father had assaulted her. Bedford County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the residence on Woodshire Drive in Blue Ridge. After arriving on the scene, deputies made numerous attempts to get someone to come to the door. After several hours negotiations failed and a search warrant was obtained to enter the residence.

At 2:55 a.m. Friday morning the search warrant was executed by the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office Tactical Response Team. James Lewis Jr. was taken into custody and the victim located inside the residence. Deputies located seven firearms inside the residence. The victim was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital.

James Edward Lewis Jr., age 42, was arrested and charged with Felony Strangulation and Domestic Assault and Battery. He is being held in the Bedford Adult Detention Center on no bond.

Two Arrested on Offenses Involving Children

BEDFORD –              The following subjects were arrested in connection with an ongoing Southern Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children investigation.

Roman David Marshall, 25 years of age, of Salem, VA was arrested and charged on the following charges: One count, 18.2-374.1, Solicitation of Child Pornography. Three counts of 18.2-374.2, Use of a communications device to facilitate certain offenses involving children.

Torian Robinson , 25 years of age , of Roanoke VA was arrested and charged on the following charges: Two counts of 18.2-370, Indecent liberties with a child. Two counts of 18.2-374.3, Use of a communication device to facilitate certain offenses involving children.

Two Apprehended Following High Speed Pursuit

At approximately 1:10 a.m. this morning a Bedford County Sheriff’s deputy observed a motorcycle with two occupants traveling south on 221 at high rate of speed. The motorcycle did not stop at the red light at the intersection of Perrowville Road. The deputy activated his emergency equipment and attempted to stop the motorcycle. The motorcycle attempted to flee through Bedford County and even entered Lynchburg City at one point. The motorcycle crashed on Greenwood Street in the Town of Bedford at 2:20 a.m. and the driver and female passenger fled on foot. Both were apprehended after a short search of the area.

Speeds during the pursuit exceeded 90 miles an hour and covered 89 miles in length. Both subjects were transported to Bedford Memorial Hospital and were released after being medically cleared.

The driver was identified as Matthew A. Waltz, age 29, of Roseland. He was arrested and charged with felony elude police, driving suspended, no motorcycle license, improper registration of the motorcycle, no insurance, disregarding traffic signals and resisting arrest.

The passenger was identified as Alisha B. Carroll, age 29, of Forest. She was arrested and charged with resisting arrest.

The Bedford County Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the pursuit by the Virginia State Police and Bedford Police Department.

Moneta Man Charged in Ongoing Investigation

Two Arrested on Multiple Charges Involving Abuse and Neglect of a Child

On Monday April 23, 2018, the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office assisted Bedford County Child Protective Services on a welfare check of a child on Sunnydale Court, Vinton Va.  While in the home investigators observed evidence of possible child abuse and the child was removed from the home.

On Friday April 27, 2018, Bedford County Sheriff’s Office arrested Wesley A. Keen, age 47, and charged him with Assault of a Family Member, Malicious Bodily Injury, Abuse/Neglect of a Child; Causing Serious Injury, Abduction by Force; By Depriving of Liberty and Malicious Wounding.

Also on Friday, Sherry Ruth Keen, age 60, was arrested and charged with Assault of a Family Member, Abuse/Neglect of a child; Causing Serious Injury and Abduction by Force; By Depriving of Liberty.

Both are held without bond.
