As deputies were responding, Heather Raja called dispatchers and advised that while she and her mother were at 1184 Roach Town Road Jody Roach shot at them. Deputies met Raja and her mother Sherry Wyatt on the road as they were responding. Wyatt advised deputies that she was married to Jody Roach’s brother, who also lives at 1184 Roach Town Road. He was not at home at the time of the incident. Wyatt stated that she had talked to him by phone earlier in the evening and he was expecting her. Because she didn’t want to go there alone, she asked her daughter to go with her. Raja said when they knocked on the door; she witnessed Jody through the window in the door pointing a gun at her. She said that Jody just started shooting. Raja said she threw up her arms. She showed the deputy cuts to her arm caused by the pieces of glass from the window. Wyatt was not injured. After the shooting, both subjects retreated to their vehicle and left.
After arriving on the scene deputies talked to Jody Roach. She advised that Raja and Wyatt had shown up at her residence. She said they were yelling and appeared to be angry. She said she believed they were going to enter the house, so she fired her handgun twice through the door.
Deputies also spoke to two other people who were in the residence at the time. Both said they heard loud talking and shots fired, but did not witness either.
Roach was arrested and transported to the Bedford Adult Detention Center, where she is being held without bond. She is charged with aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and reckless handing of a firearm.
